And finally The world of Frazer A passive-aggressive emoji Should you use emojis when communicating with your colleagues, and when you do, which should you use? Well, Frazer has recently learned which you perhaps shouldn’t be sending! Since emojis are expressive, they can convey a variety of meanings, depending on the context, but new research from Glassdoor suggests that one has a passive-aggressive reputation. When given four options, the thumbs- up emoji took the crown for most passive-aggressive among workers, only beaten when other symbols come into play by the ellipsis (…). Though one may simply be trying to express agreement or approval, be careful — a thumbs-up could ruin your relationship with the recipient whose inbox it lands in! Heartbreak leave Does going through a breakup entitle you to some time off work? Maybe. A new study indicates leave requests giving this reason may soon start rising. The research from a dating app suggests younger generations are pushing forward change in how heartbreak is dealt with, as a significant portion of Gen Z take leave to recuperate from romantic distress. According to Wisp, 34% of Gen Z respondents, aged 18-27, admitted to having taken leave from work because of heartbreak. It stands in contrast to only 20% of Millennials doing the same, 11% of Gen X, and just 7% of Baby Boomers. With respondents reporting that breakups negatively influence their productivity, perhaps a little time out to reset and take care of mental health is a good thing. As the next generation of staff focus more on the importance of work-life balance, a culture shift is on its way. Building a business benefit In a tough market for recruiting and retaining staff, it helps to have attractive benefits. With employees expecting more than simply a salary and the legally required holiday days, businesses are getting increasingly creative. Recently coming under questioning is a benefit from a global professional services firm, providing a stipend for Legos! Well, the giant has updated its wellness offering to cover reimbursement for Legos and puzzles, according to Business Insider. While some may react with confusion, there is something to say for the psychological impact Lego has — helping people unwind and de- stress, tap into their creativity and problem-solving skills; all in turn great for improving performance at work! © stock.adobe.com/ igradesign © stock.adobe.com/ Eugene B-sov © stock.adobe.com/ Pixel-ShotEast Midlands Business Link Bricks 2025 A celebration of those helping to create the landscape for the next generation EAST MIDLANDS The prestigious East Midlands Bricks Awards are back for its 10th year!
