And finally The world of Frazer £23,000 for the office pizza party?! A car dealership has been left with a £23,000 bill after ‘Pizza Friday’ saw the business hit with legal action. A former receptionist has been awarded the cash after being left out of the office pizza round in a “campaign of victimisation.” The receptionist was said to have been purposely left out of a monthly takeaway order by bosses - and this is where it becomes quite serious - because of accusations she made against another staff member of sexual discrimination, which were confirmed after a probe showed he had committed gross misconduct. She went on to be unfairly dismissed. In another example of a business on the wrong side of history, it’s clear to Frazer who deserves the dough! But I don’t want to get dressed… With restrictions easing, many of us will soon be returning to the office. While one might be looking forward to socialising with co-workers once again, and relaxing a now intimate relationship with Zoom, a new survey has revealed that there is one thing workers are certainly not looking forward to - having to get dressed. More than half (58%) of employees are dreading donning smart clothes on their return to the office, and rather surprisingly are more off-put by this than worries over COVID-19, with just 18% of workers worried about the potential risks of picking up something! Surely a suit and tie isn’t that bad? Now if only Frazer could remember how to tie his own… A battle with LinkedIn A Northampton businesswoman has legally changed her name after LinkedIn insisted she only use her real moniker on the social media platform. Attempting to express her love for rainbows, Lea Turner had used an emoji with her name as part of her brand. However, after adding the colourful image, Turner found herself locked out of her account as the company argued that she could only use her legal name for her profile. Cunningly, Turner looked to gain the upper hand, legally altering her name to Lea Rainbow Turner. Writing to LinkedIn to see if she could now return the emoji to her name, she was initially told no, but after a post detailing the situation went viral, the company - surprisingly enough - said the entire situation was a mistake and she could use the emoji. The sickener is, this means she has legally changed her name and dealt with a pile of paperwork for no reason. Fortunately, Lea sees the funny side. 62 East Midlands Business Link www.eastmidlandsbusinesslink.co.uk © Shutterstock/ Ilike © Shutterstock/ 13_Phunkod © Shutterstock/ Elnur 62.qxp_Layout 1 01/06/2021 16:10 Page 1East Midlands Business Link Bricks 2021 A celebration of those helping to create the landscape for the next generation EAST MIDLANDS The prestigious East Midlands Bricks Awards are back for 2021!
