Work begins on 385-home Hatton housing development

Construction work is now underway at a new housing development in the village of Hatton, in Derbyshire, which will provide 385 homes and investment of more than £2.4 million in the local community.

Works have started on the new homes at Bellway’s Hatton Court and Ashberry’s Cherry Meadow developments, which are located on adjoining sites off Derby Road.

Full planning permission for a residential development of one, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, alongside public open space, footpaths and cycleways, was granted by South Derbyshire District Council last year.

As part of the planning agreement for the development, the housebuilders will also be investing £1.6 million in local education, £151,160 in healthcare, £121,025 towards Jubilee Fields, £393,038 in flood defence contributions, and £449,068 towards recreational facilities.

Bellway West Midlands Sales Director Marie Richards said: “We’re expecting this site to be very popular, as Hatton has a great range of local amenities as well as great commuter links, close to the A50 and with trains to Derby, Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe from the village’s railway station.

“We’re very much looking forward to welcoming the first people to the development to show them what will be on offer here.”

Ashberry Homes East Midlands Sales Manager Steve Smith said: “It’s an exciting time for Ashberry Homes’ East Midlands division, as construction work at Cherry Meadow is now well underway.

“The homes being built here will form part of the vibrant existing village community and will meet the demand for new housing from first-time buyers, families and downsizers.”
