Vacant court to become new care home

Plans from Ladhar Crown Care Developments Limited for a new residential care home in Grantham have been approved by South Kesteven District Council.

The care home is to be built on Harlaxton Road, at the site of the former magistrates court. The vacant court buildings are to be demolished to make way for the two-storey scheme.

The development will feature 55 self-contained bedrooms, lounges, dining areas, a cafe and salon. 21 parking spaces will be provided.

A council document released ahead of the decision reads: “The proposal would provide residential care accommodation to address a local and national need for elderly and disabled housing.

“The design, scale and positioning of the building, along with the removal of the existing building and retention of the existing mature trees on the site would have a positive impact on the character of the area.

“The development would provide a high level of amenity for future occupants and ensure there would be no adverse impact upon the amenity of existing neighbouring properties.”
