Plans from Quarry Plant & Industry Ltd (QPI) to construct a new base at Heather Brickworks in Coalville have been approved by North West Leicestershire District Council.

QPI is a supplier of conveyor belting and rollers with premises in Ellistown.

The development would offer 6,800 sq m of workshop and storage units with offices and has the potential to create 175 full time jobs.

The 5.39 hectare site is currently used for the open storage of conveyor belts by QPI. It was once an active brick manufacturing plant and has been a source of employment locally for more than a hundred years. The brickworks ceased production in 2006.
