A new residential apartment development could be built on the site of a former social club in West Bridgford, after Rushcliffe Borough Council recommended the plans for approval.

Trentside Club on Wilford Lane is a vacant three story red brick Victorian villa, and would be demolished to make way for the development which would provide 34 apartments.

10 one bed apartments, 23 two bed apartments and 1 three bed duplex apartment would be built in two blocks. 21 apartments would be in a 2-6 storey block and 13 would be in a 2-4 storey block.

43 car parking spaces would be created.

A document released by the council ahead of the final decision on the plans reads: “The application site is classed as a brownfield site (previously developed) in a highly sustainable location, surrounded by residential properties, close to local amenities and, therefore, the development of the site for residential purposes is considered to be acceptable in principle.”
