Stags’ owner and chairman John Radford has expressed his excitement after plans were submitted for a Hampton-by-Hilton at the oldest professional football ground in the world.
The 100-room hotel, which has already received high-acclaim from local businesses, would be built adjacent to the Quarry Lane Stand.
John said: “I’m genuinely excited about the prospect of a Hampton-by-Hilton Hotel at One Call Stadium.
“Everything has been very positive surrounding the news of the plans and the feedback we have received from people in Mansfield and local businesses.
“The One Call Stadium is the oldest football professional football ground in the world – it’s a landmark. A new hotel of this quality next to the stadium will help the development of the football club and engrave the club and the Town further onto the map.
“It will be great for Mansfield and will create jobs and opportunities for businesses to use greater facilities in the Town instead of heading out of the area.”
The club expects to receive notification from Mansfield District Council within the next six to eight months on whether the hotel will go ahead. If approved, the hotel will open in 2020.
