Plans for a residential development on land East of Peckleton Lane in Desford have been recommended for approval ahead of a planning meeting.
The application for the field seeks outline planning permission, with access only to be determined at this stage, for the construction of up to 80 homes on the 3.76 hectare site.
An area of open space is proposed around the perimeter of the site as well as an attenuation pond in this open space.
A council document reads: “On balance it is considered that the harm identified to the character and appearance of the countryside from new residential development would not significantly and demonstrably outweigh the identified benefits of the scheme.
“Therefore, the presumption in favour of sustainable development does apply in this case and material considerations do justify making a decision other than in accordance with the development plan. The application is therefore recommended for approval subject to the conditions and planning obligations listed above.”
