National commercial interiors specialist Paragon Interiors Group, which is headquartered in Nottingham, is expanding its Birmingham presence with the opening of a new office, double its original size, set for Spring.

Director Gary Tailby and regional sales director Tina Batham have headed up the team since Paragon announced plans to open a Birmingham office in late 2016, but with £20m of contracts secured in just 6 months, the firm has accelerated its growth forecasts for the West Midlands market.

Paragon is now on site fitting out its new offices at Imperial & Whitehall on Colmore Row.

Tailby said: “We have a very experienced team here and Tina and I knew there was a chance to make real inroads into the market. We’ve had a strategic plan for growth which was always going to include expanding our own office space but the demand has been such that we have now brought that forward.

“We’ve won over £20m worth of contracts already and the pipeline for the next 6 months is very strong and we are behind some major fit-outs that are coming to the city. There was a phrase that was used a lot a few years ago ‘Boomingham’ and it is easy to see why.

“The city is a real magnet for inward investment, thanks to the hard work of organisations like Business Birmingham and we are ideally positioned to work with businesses that are coming here. Indeed, we hope to be part of the package that attracts them in the first place by helping the agents and developers to market their properties”.

Paragon has a “2020 vision” to reach a £100m turnover within the next four years, but reports that it is already a year ahead of schedule.

Indeed, chairman and founder Alan Hardy, who recently bought Notts County F.C, is talking about an ambition to hit £250m by 2025 and has brought in new CEO Gary Perry, who was at the heart of the significant growth of CBRE’s Global Workplace Solutions business, to help drive the business forward.

Perry said: “We are on a mission to be regarded as the pre-eminent workplace solutions company in the UK, delivering exceptional projects through exceptional people. To do that we are creating a culture where everyone feels empowered to take ownership and make decisions around the issues they face.

“When I first came up to Nottingham to meet the team it was clear that we have an inspired group of committed people that are highly focused on delivering the right solutions for our customers and I have found that exact same drive, passion and talent with the Birmingham team.

He added: “Gary and Tina are hugely respected in the industry and know the West Midlands market incredibly well. Paragon has always worked in Birmingham and has a string of very impressive projects in the city but there is still a lot of untapped potential for us. There is a lot of Grade A office space available that needs to be refurbished and by having boots on the ground we can be at the heart of that opportunity. £20m worth of contracts in just 6 months attest to the potential here and we are keen to ensure that we become a major figure in shaping the future of this booming city and region”.
