Plans from Callithome Ltd for the demolition of existing buildings and erection of a student accommodation development at 1 Howard Street and 24-26 Glasshouse Street in Nottingham have been submitted to the city council.
A 7-8 storey building would be constructed, consisting of 14 apartments offering 90 beds. Three ground floor commercial units would also be provided.
Plans submitted to the council by Globe Consultants Limited on behalf of Callithome say: “The proposed development is within the city centre and Eastside Regeneration Zone and this proposal is for a student accommodation led scheme which aligns with planning policy for the area. It will deliver uses that are appropriate for the area in a high-quality new building that will transform this part of Nottingham city centre and stimulate confidence that the Eastside regeneration area is now capable of attracting major investment.
“The scale and massing of the buildings are generally in accordance with the objectives and criteria of the Nottingham City Centre Urban Design Guide. They will fundamentally shift the perception of this particular area and set the benchmark for future phases of investment and development in this location.”
