Work is nearing the final stages at a development which is providing 178 new homes in Scraptoft, Leicestershire.
The foundations are currently being laid for the last house at Bellway’s Goodridge development, where all but 30 homes have now been completed. Construction is expected to finish on site in the summer.
Work started at the development off Beeby Road back in 2017. The new homes have sold quickly, with 26 properties reserved in the past four months, and there are now just four plots remaining for sale.
Among the new homes are 64 affordable properties available for local people through rent or shared ownership, alongside new public open space including a children’s play area.
The development has also provided £2 million of investment in the local area, including £1.2 million towards education, £188,000 for public transport and road improvements, £570,000 towards community facilities and £48,000 for policing.
Carolyne Watkinson, Sales Director for Bellway East Midlands, said: “There has been strong interest in the homes at Goodridge ever since we announced our plans to build in Scraptoft and this has continued through the life of the development.
“We’ve seen a good mix of people buying here, most of them families, with some retired people, and a number of first-time buyers.”
