Up to 70 new jobs are to be created in Leicester after planners gave the green light to plans for a new car showroom, workshop and Starbucks in Progress Way.
David Cullen Homes had submitted the proposals back in December for a 18,320 sq ft showroom, 16,145 sq ft workshop and 4,025 sq ft Starbucks complete with a drive-thru next to a Porsche showroom .
The site, in Progress Way, once formed part of the former Gipsy Land Brickworks site which traded from the early 20th century until the 1980s.
A document submitted to the council with the planning application states: “The applicant is proposing employment generating uses on a long vacant brownfield site.
“The proposed scheme has the potential to generate a substantial number of full and part-time jobs and further jobs during construction.
“The proposed scheme has the potential to deliver a high-quality development.
“It is clear that the site is capable of delivering a high-quality development comprising a range of mix of commercial uses.”
