LLC helps obtain late licence for new bar, kitchen and arcade concept, Penny Lane in city’s saturation zone

Walaiti Rathore, a licensing specialist at Licensing Law Consultancy (LLC), has worked with Panegyric Limited to obtain a Premises Licence for a large site located at Fletcher Gate within Nottingham City Council’s saturation zone.

The new licence will allow the premises to open until 1am which will operate as a bar & kitchen in addition to providing an experience similar to seaside arcades with skills and low level amusement machines, such as penny pushers.

Panegyric Limited is owned by the operators of a number of popular and award winning venues in the city, including The Hockley Arts Club and Das Kino.

Their latest concept is inspired by seaside family holidays and popular summer destinations such as Matlock Bath, Blackpool and the Brighton Pier. To reflect this the menu will feature speciality cocktails designed by an award-winning mixologist as well as an extensive selection of food and drinks.

The operations director of Penny Lane, Michael Johnson said: “We are thrilled to be opening our newest venture in Nottingham’s Lace Market – it is the perfect location and we think people will be really excited to try it out.

“Penny Lane will be our flagship venue and will feature some of our most exciting and adventurous ideas yet. Nottingham is such a vibrant city, known for its artistic flare and independent scene, so it was really important that we created something different with a unique interactive element – Penny Lane is just that.

“There will be unusual cocktails on the menu, designed to bring back British childhood memories. Our Twister cocktail at The Hockley Arts Club is extremely popular, so we will be using similar ideas to fit in with the fun quirky theme at Penny Lane, as well as colourful lights and stunning monochrome tiles to deliver an iconic venue that the city can be proud of.

“We are really excited to open up the venue during the daytime too, which will be suitable for families and children looking to have a go on the games and relax with some casual food and drink.”

Walaiti said: “Obtaining a new premises licence for later hours and without the more restrictive conditions is very challenging for a venue of this size in the heart of the Saturation Zone. However, these operators have a proven track record and the proposed concept was designed to add further diversity to both the City’s day and night time offering.”

Penny Lane will open to the public on Friday 26 April 2019.
