CPO approval to push Castleward Urban Village regeneration scheme forward

Derby City Council’s Cabinet has approved a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) to secure sufficient land to create a further 512 new homes in the next stage of the Castleward Urban Village regeneration scheme.

With the scheme aiming to deliver at least 800 new homes by 2028, 164 new homes have already been created by developer partner Compendium Living and another 54 are in construction.

The Council is aiming to “reach agreement with all affected owners and occupiers in advance of a CPO.”

Business holders and property owners recently met with senior officers and Councillors in October to discuss the CPO proposal, timeline and mechanism for compensation.
