Plans for a new banquet hall at Colwick Hall have been recommended for approval by Nottingham City Council.
The application submitted by GVA Grimley on behalf of Colwick Hall Hotel, seeks permission for the removal of the existing marquee on site to make way for a permanent function suite to the south of the Hall.
The function suite would comprise a banqueting hall, that would be self-contained from the hall and provide space for up to 500 people, a lobby, bar area, kitchen and ancillary facilities.
A council document reads: “The proposed replacement function suite is considered to result in less than substantial harm to the setting of Colwick Hall and would contribute to the on- going viability of Colwick Hall, a Grade II* Georgian country house.
“The replacement function suite would be a permanent ancillary building to the Hall and provide an improved relationship, better revealing the architectural interest of the Hall, particularly when viewed from the Country Park to the south.
“The identified less than substantial harm to the setting of the hall is considered to be outweighed through the public benefit that would be realised through the future security relating to the retention and upkeep of the Hall.”
