Plans for 132 apartments and a commercial unit for retail, professional services, restaurant, bar, takeaway, or leisure use in Beeston have been approved by Broxtowe Borough Council.
The development, which comes as part of the redevelopment of Beeston Square, will be constructed on a 0.36 hectare site, on land south east of B & M, Styring Street & Station Road.
40 of the apartments will have one bedroom and 92 will have two bedrooms.
The apartment scheme has been designed by Leonard Design Architects to complement the cinema element of the wider Beeston Square scheme, for which Bowmer + Kirkland were appointed as contractor in October 2019.
The proposed apartment development will feature four flat roofed blocks. Beside Station Road, a block will be eight storeys high. There will be a five storey block to the south east of Beeston’s new cinema development, with the ground floor being the commercial unit. A four storey block will sit beside the tram tracks fronting Styring Street. Meanwhile 50 parking spaces are proposed in a two storey car park block within the centre of the site. Roof gardens are proposed above the two and four storey blocks.
