Bank to become leisure venue

DPDS Consulting has worked with owners of a former bank building in Derby city centre ready for it to be transformed into a new leisure venue.

Derby City Council has approved plans, submitted in June by CityServe Properties, to turn the ground floor and basement of the former Market Place branch of NatWest into a new bar or restaurant.

The building has been vacant for around three years. City Council planners said: “The uses proposed are considered to be acceptable in this city centre location and would assist in bringing this empty listed building back into a viable use.”

NatWest now has its main city centre branch in St Peter’s Street.
