600 homes set for Leicestershire agricultural land

Harborough District Council has approved a plan for 600 homes in Leicestershire, proposed by ‘The Owners Of Market Harborough Land’, on what is currently agricultural land.

The development on Kettering Road, given the name ‘Overstone Park’, will also involve the erection of a school and local centre. A new roundabout and link from Overstone House, as well as footways and cycleways will be created.

A planning statement reads: “The site presents a unique opportunity to create an exemplary development adjacent to the open countryside. The scheme has therefore been designed with careful reference, respect and sensitivity for the landscape context.

“The approach has also had regard for the market and planning policy requirements, with a clear acknowledgement of housing needs.

“Overall the proposed development will offer quality and sustainable living, good
access and transport links, along with local amenities on and around the site,
contributing positively to the local area.”
