The University of Derby has signed a Strategic Partnership with Marketing Derby to “recognise their rich relationship and underpin new shared objectives for the city and county.”
Signing the Agreement at the National Gallery, Professor Kathryn Mitchell, Vice-Chancellor of the University said: “We are delighted to have agreed a strategic partnership with Marketing Derby, one which will see us working closely together to raise the national and global profile of the city.
“Strong effective partnerships like this one are vital if we are to have a greater influence in government and with business, on decisions and policies that affect our place and the future shape of our city and county.”
Chairman of Marketing Derby, Bob Betts said: “Marketing Derby has a long history of working with the University of Derby and the signing of this Partnership Agreement today recognises this formally. We are committed to look at how our closer working can make a real difference for our two organisations and the city and county.”
The two organisations have agreed a number of new initiatives to focus on initially, including the promotion of Derby and Derbyshire to young people, support for delivery of the University’s estates vision and support of its alumni programme.
The extensive alumni community champions the University and the region across the globe and the University was pleased to welcome some of its alumni to the Embassy event.
Professor Mitchell said: “We are proud of our alumni and are delighted to have some of them here tonight. We intend to work even more closely with them to understand what their needs are from a regional perspective, and how we may be able to work with them to help realise the city’s ambitions.”
