Time Out: Helen Wathall, Managing Director at Wathall’s

Helen Wathall

It’s almost the weekend and that means another ‘Time Out’. This week’s questions are answered by Helen Wathall, Managing Director and 5th generation of her family to run Wathall’s funeral directors.

What is the first thing you do to get the weekend started?

More often than not, I pick my son up from school and we head out for something to eat.  We are both quite partial to our local Indian restaurant!

What is your hobby?

I don’t really have time for any hobbies, but when time permits, I quite like walking, and gardening.

What is your favourite movie?

I like all sorts of movies, but the one I think had the biggest effect on me is Sliding Doors. The fact that your life can change in an instant, based on the smallest of decisions, is a lesson we can all learn from.

If you hadn’t been successful at what you do, what would you be doing instead as a career?

I always wanted to be a police dog handler, or perhaps work in forensics.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

The power to successfully clone myself several times, get all the work done, and nap at the same time sounds appealing!

What is your favourite genre of music?

I like all sorts of music, but if pushed, my favourite would be 1980’s rock, such as Bruce Springstein, Bon Jovi or Bryan Adams.

If you could travel to any moment in time where would you go?

I’d love to go back to when my grandparents were young, where I believe life was a lot simpler, possibly tougher, but definitely simpler.
