The weekend is almost upon us and that means it’s time for some quick fire questions. This ‘Time Out’ features Glynis Wright, founder of Glynis Wright & Co Family Solicitors and Mediators, based in Leicester.
What is the first thing you do to get the weekend started?
Sleep in for as long as I can, be completely lazy and indulge in the luxury of that fabulous sense of the weekend stretching out in front of me with all of its exciting possibilities for fun! It just feels so good! After that, it is the one day of the week I allow myself bacon and eggs (apologies to vegetarians)!
What is your hobby
I have lots of interests, but at the moment I have a health coach who his helping me to understand the basics of wellbeing for myself and for my team which has never been so important. I also enjoy my Trustee work with Alex’s Wish who are an incredible charity and do a lot of fundraising for them.
I tend to like high octane activities like jumping out of planes, abseiling and paragliding, as long as its for Charity. In 2021 I am organising a group of people to go up in a tiny biplane to do a loop de loop for Alex’s Wish! That will be simply awesome!
What is your favourite movie?
Without question, Bladerunner (the first one). I love science fiction and that movie has everything I love – it is visually stunning, evocative, has an amazing and haunting soundtrack and a brilliant story line. I never get tired of it.
If you hadn’t been successful at what you do, what would you being doing instead as a career.
I would love to have been a professional opera singer! It’s a total fantasy. I sang with the Leicester Philharmonic Choir for several years as a soprano and loved every minute of it. I definitely do not have the voice to be a professional, but I have often wished I did. Imagine how incredible it would be to make hearts melt just with your voice.
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
To miraculously cure every woman of the “imposter syndrome” and their self-doubting and fear of risk to give them the courage to run their own businesses. Setting up my own business and driving it forward into success has been singularly the most empowering thing I have ever done.
What is your favourite genre of music?
I literally love all music. My tastes range from Puccini and Handel to Lady Gaga, from French jazz to Goldfrapp, from rock to soul – and where there is a dance floor, you will find me on it (much to the embarrassment of my team I am sure but you only live once!).
If you could travel to any moment in time where would you go?
It would definitely be to the future, to a time when we all engage in space travel just as we now fly to our holiday destinations. Imagine having the opportunity of looking down on our incredible planet from space, and the beauty of that view! What a perspective that would give us!
