The winners – North Notts Business Awards 2019

A Rio fiesta styled evening was enjoyed by a 240 members of the business community at this year’s North Notts Business Awards, held at the North Notts Arena. The evening’s annual celebrations were co-hosted by professional speakers Steve Judge and Olga Geidane, and opened with a performance from Retford’s championship Latin dancers, Oliver Johnson an Alessia Andriani.

Two Special Recognition Awards for Services to Business were posthumously awarded to the late Matthew Murphy of Ilett & Clark Solicitors and Dan Terry and presented to their families.

The top award of the night, the Alexander Calder Financial Ltd Company of the Year Award, was won by Retford based J-Flex. Managing Director, Sam Kirk, said: “I am delighted and incredibly proud of our achievements over the last 12 months. This award recognition would not be possible without the incredible support of our shareholders who trust and believe in us. It also wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic team who deserve enormous credit and thanks for their hard-work, professionalism, dedication and loyalty – all vital traits that have made J-Flex the success it is today.”

Head Judge, Neil Roberts, Director of Wright Vigar Chartered Accountants, commented: “It has been my honour for the past few years to be Head Judge and have the privilege of reading an increasing number of quality entries for the awards. The judging panel take the responsibility very seriously as we are aware that being a finalist can bring a huge amount of benefits for a business and it’s owners.

“This is why competition for an award is so strong. My company Wright Vigar Limited are also pleased to sponsor an award each year and this year we sponsored the new Family Business Award, the well-deserved winners being Trans-Sport TV Limited, our congratulations go out to them and all of the 2019 Finalists.”

Guests dug deep into their pockets on the night to contribute to the Charity Raffle and a record £1,190.00 was raised for the Aurora Wellbeing Centre in Worksop.

Dame Carmen Miranda from the Talegate Theatre Company also entertained guests and the evening was rounded off with a Macarena dance off and entertainment from local professional singer Jenna.
