South Derbyshire District Council will be represented by inward investment agency Marketing Derby as part of Team Derby and Derbyshire at MIPIM.
As one of the fastest growing areas in the UK, South Derbyshire has seen significant investment over recent years. Mercia Marina, Dove Valley Park Phase 2 approval, Nestle manufacturing facility at Hatton, Toyota in their new Toyota New Global Architecture to name but a few
The last piece in the jigsaw is the capital of the National Forest, the market town of Swadlincote. Following the success of the Pipeworks scheme which attracted well-known names such as Odeon Cinema, Costa Coffee, Prezzo and Greene King, South Derbyshire District Council is seeking partners to continue the growth of the town centre.
The fast-growing settlement of Swadlincote has land available for a mix of retail, leisure, office and residential use.
Funding has already been granted to South Derbyshire as part of the UK Government’s ‘One Public Estate’ Programme for the District Council to take forward the redevelopment of the Civic Hub.
Frank McArdle Chief Executive, South Derbyshire District Council said “SDDC owns a large proportion of the town centre and we have an aspiration to regenerate the area including a new Civic Hub in partnership with Derbyshire County Council and other potential organisations.
“We are keen to seek partners to support us with the continuous growth of the town centre.”
Tony King, Cabinet member for economic development and regeneration, Derbyshire County Council said “Derbyshire is a unique county and we are incredibly proud to be part of its rich history and outstanding offer. Home to world class industry, we believe it is the best place to live, work, visit and invest within the UK. South Derbyshire is a key part of the investment narrative for the county.”
