Purpose Media trio set for charity trek

A trio of colleagues from full-service marketing agency Purpose Media are hoping a Friday 13th hoodoo doesn’t strike when they undertake a charity trek.

Marketing Director Katrina Starkie, Business Manager Sam Wheatcroft and Accounts Manager Hayley Manchester are taking part in the 2018 T20 Walkathon Rockfall Team Challenge.

The event will see teams from local businesses trek the 20 miles between Nottingham’s Trent Bridge cricket ground and the 3aaa County Ground in Derby.

It will raise cash for the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation, to support the delivery of a range of community projects to young people across the county, using the power of sport.

The event starts at 9.30am at Trent Bridge and teams will have just ten hours to trek between the two sporting venues.

They will round the day off by watching the Derbyshire Falcons take on the Notts Outlaws in their Vitality Blast T20 clash.

The team which raises the highest amount of cash on the day will receive a trophy, so will the team which completes the walk in the quickest time.

It’s not the first charity challenge the trio has undertaken this year. In March, they spent a night under the stars in the icy cold and damp during a business sleep-out event, which saw them raise £450 for a YMCA Derbyshire campaign to help the homeless.

Katrina said: “As a longstanding partner of the Derbyshire County Cricket Club and its foundation, we are delighted to be taking part in this challenge to raise cash to enable it to continue to deliver the vital work it does in communities across Derbyshire.

“Twenty miles doesn’t sound like much, but it will more than likely be hot and humid on the day, so we’re expecting this to be a physically-demanding challenge, which we are all training hard for.”
