Boots reveals new plans for Beeston HQ at Nottingham Partners lunch

More than 100 attendees from across the region’s business sector attended Nottingham
Partners networking lunch to hear from one of the city’s most famous brands, Boots, on
its commitment to Nottingham, alongside two of the cities’ other success stories, law firm
Eversheds Sutherland and mobile communication solutions provider Esendex.

At the event, the audience heard from Mark Chivers, Enterprise Zone Director at Boots
about the company’s plans to better integrate its Beeston site into the rest of the local
surroundings.

The site which has been inaccessible to the public will for the first time be traversed by a
through road which will open later this year, as well as being linked to pedestrian and
cycle networks. Guests also heard about plans to develop the rest of the 300-acre site
into a centre for innovation in health, beauty and wellbeing at part of the Nottingham
Enterprise Zone.

Geoff Love, Chief Executive Officer, Esendex explained the business communications
provider’s journey since 2001, which has seen its sales increase from €3m in 2010 to
€90m forecast this year. From its headquarters in Nottingham, Esendex has developed an
extensive international footprint, attributed to investment in the team and platform.

Brendan Moffett, Chief Executive of Marketing NG, Nottingham’s Place Marketing Organisation, which includes Nottingham Partners, said: “There was a strong sense of optimism in the room amongst the city’s vibrant business community. The lunch was sponsored by Eversheds Sutherland which has invested significantly in Nottingham, serving global markets from their innovative Canal Street office.

“The phenomenal growth of Esendex is a great illustration of why the city ranks
well as a place for high growth businesses to flourish. To cap a great event, we heard about the nerve centre of the health and beauty giant Boots, right here in Nottingham. Enabling works for a globally significant innovation campus are nearing completion which has the potential to be transformational for our economy.”

Moffett introduced the event by highlighting the recent successes across the city; a 60+
delegation promoting the £2bn of investment opportunities on offer at MIPIM, a recent
report highlighting the £500m of investment in the city during 2017 as the highest for 11
years and the two awards presented by fDi Intelligence for the city’s business
connectivity and friendliness.
