Nottingham Recruitment Group celebrates 30th anniversary

Nottingham’s longest standing commercial recruitment firm, Harper Recruitment Group, celebrates 30 years since it first opened its doors in the city this month.
Over the years, the team has provided staffing solutions for some of the region’s industry leading organisations and key figures including many large blue chip and global pharmaceutical companies, local and regional public services and a host of the region’s diverse SME and OMB sectors. With offices across the East Midlands, Harpers has placed well in excess of 100,000 temps and thousands of permanent positions to date.
Managing director, Jane Harper, launched Harpers on 16th November 1987 in an office within the old City House on Maid Marian Way. Successful and rapid expansion saw several office moves to Wheeler Gate, Victoria Street and Friar Lane, before the firm settled into its current Talbot Street offices in 2006.
Reflecting on the firm’s launch, Jane said: “Having worked for both a large national and a small privately owned firm, I saw a gap in the market for a professionally focused consultancy offering unrivalled local knowledge and the personal touch, coupled with the highest levels of corporate customer service.”
Over the years, Harpers has recruited for a plethora of Nottingham names. These include Boots, for which Harpers was the sole commercial supplier for many years. Capital One and Specsavers also turned to the team for support when setting up their operations in the city.
Jane attributes the success of the agency to the strength of the team that they have built – and retained – over the years.
“We are proud to have a very low staff turnover, and for the most part, when staff join our team, they very rarely leave,” she explains.
“The average length of service at Harper Recruitment Group tends to be 10 years, and we treat our employees like family. This also translates into the way we take care of our clients; we take great pleasure in seeing them flourish and grow.
