Leicestershire marketing agency founder named Business Woman of the Year

Gemma Orton, Founder and Managing Director of Mocha Marketing, a Leicestershire based marketing agency, has been recognised as Business Women of the Year in the East Midlands Nachural Entrepreneurship Awards 2019.

The awards evening took place on 27th September, at the Maher Centre, where Gemma was presented with this accolade in front of over 400 guests, including leaders, investors and sponsors from across the Midlands business community.

The Nachural Entrepreneurship Awards, founded by Ninder Johal, was created to celebrate the ideals, innovation and strategic thinking from business leaders and entrepreneurs. Ninder believes that these individuals drive economic growth and their determination should be recognised and rewarded.

Gemma, founded Mocha nearly 6 years ago, after spending many years in senior marketing positions in the sports industry. Gemma appointed several marketing agencies over the years to work with her teams but says it was these experiences that led her to launch her own marketing agency, because she believed there was a gap in the market for an agency to work with clients as a true extension of their team.

Gemma says about the awards: ‘I really can’t describe how ecstatic I am to receive this award.  In a room full of incredible people, I was beyond honoured and humbled to have been awarded with Business Women of the Year.

“This category is always filled with outstanding women – who I very much admire – and so I find it quite unbelievable to have the trophy on our shelves at Mocha.  It’s been an ambitious year for us this year.

“Our rebrand back in June was a huge step for us and is really supporting our growth and the conversations that we’re having -but what remains the most important element for us, is that we are servicing our clients to the best of our ability. No matter how big our ambition, this can never be compromised. Our entire business is built around our 6 client promises.

“When I sat down to write the supporting information for the award once I found out I had been nominated, I really wasn’t sure it would be our year this year. My second son is just a year old and so this year has been all about juggling a growing business with ambitious goals and a young family – if this award means that I can inspire a hand full of women into believing that they can too have a wonderful family and a great career, then it will mean so much more.

“As much as this award is for Business Women of the Year, I absolutely stood on that stage and accepted it on behalf of our entire team. Mocha might have been all about me once upon a time but fast forward 6 years and I am no more important that the rest of our team. We are a team and I am so grateful to each and every one of our employees who share the same values for our business as I do.”

Help us maintain our standards of journalism

Readers across the region enjoy our news site but keeping our news up to date and authoritative, without charging readers to view the site is a challenge. Especially now with the Corona Virus measures affecting us all, as many clients have been severely affected and are naturally reducing their spend on advertisements. Given this lack of revenue stream we are calling on the generosity of our readers to help us fill that void and enable our journalists to continue delivering the news that you enjoy.

Unlike many other news sites, we don't have annoying pop ups or charge scandalous prices for events. We also produce printed magazines for each title and we make these freely available to read on line too, for your enjoyment. Often, people have asked why we don't make a charge for viewers to read these magazines and news stories but we feel that would adversely affect our readership/advertisers response rate. But with advertising revenues now severely affected we need your help. So, if you can support our news sites/magazines with either a small donation of even £1, or a subscription to our magazine, which costs from just £33.60 per year, (inc p&P and mailed direct to your door) your generosity will help us weather the current storm and continue in our quest to deliver quality journalism.

We value your readership and your support, as this enables us to continue to provide our regular daily news updates. We've been established over 30 years, during which we've lost count of the numerous recessions and financial meltdowns, and we intend to weather the storms caused by Covid-19. So, every reader contribution, however big or small, is invaluable in helping us to get through this. Please click here to help support your favourite news site/magazine.
