IoD launches search for most talented Midlands business leaders

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has launched its annual search for the most talented business leaders in the Midlands.

Nominations and entries are now being sought for its Director of the Year Awards which recognise the region’s top directors from the business, public and third sectors.

New for 2021 is the Agility and Resilience category in recognition of directors who have risen to the extra challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Winners in 14 categories will be invited to attend to the national Director of the Year Awards final celebration along with winners from other IoD regions.

The 14 categories are:

  • Large Company – £50m +
  • SME – up to £50m
  • Family
  • Start-up
  • Third Sector
  • Public
  • International
  • Innovation
  • Young
  • Agility & Resilience (new category for 2021)
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
  • Sustainability
  • CSR
  • Non-Executive.

Gary Headland, IoD East Midlands regional chair, said: “Our awards are among the most prestigious and credible in leadership, recognising the achievements and successes of directors across the public, private and third sectors.

“Given the challenges of the last year, I am sure there will be plenty of inspiring and entrepreneurial stories to be told and shared as the business community comes together to recover and rebuild.”

The deadline for nominations is 30 June 2021; the deadline for entries is midnight Friday 16 July.

Government restrictions depending, planning is underway to host IoD nominees, winners and sponsors across the Midlands at a hybrid awards event in the autumn.
