Fiona Boswell, Head of franchising and commercial services at leading law firm Fraser Brown, took home the service provider of the year award at the annual Encouraging Women into Franchising (EWIF) Awards 2018.
The eighth EWIF Awards, which were attended by more than 150 professionals in the franchising industry, took place at the Natwest building in London.
EWIF is an organisation which was set up to support women considering buying a franchise, to encourage business women to franchise their existing operations and to help franchisors attract more women to their networks. It is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers, providing advice and guidance to anyone looking at trying to break into the franchise industry.
Fiona Boswell, who is also the Midlands chair of the EWIF organisation, was crowned the winner of the service provider of the year award, which was this year sponsored by The Franchise Show and acknowledges her professional contribution in advising and supporting women in the franchise sector.
She said: “I am very proud to not only win this award but to attend the EWIF Awards amongst so many inspiring women from the franchising industry. The annual awards provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of women and I am humbled to have been named the service provider of the year.
“EWIF is a fantastic organisation, which I have a lot of involvement with alongside my work at Fraser Brown Solicitors. I look forward to continuing to support women in franchising in my practice and in my role as an EWIF regional chair.”
The judges’ comments stated: “Passionate about women in franchising, Fiona has provided valuable support to over 24 female-led businesses. As one of EWIF’s regional chairs, Fiona is a great advocate for women in franchising, using every opportunity to speak to women about the opportunities available to them.”
Fiona joined Nottingham-based Fraser Brown in 2015 and co-ordinates the franchise team that advises businesses on all legal aspects concerning franchising, including contracts, disputes, mediation, resales, international franchising, HR, property and brand issues.
