Double award win for Nottingham based business energy supplier

Nottingham-based business gas and electricity supplier Yü Energy, is celebrating two prestigious award wins in the space of a week.

On Friday, they won the Business of the Year award at the Nachural Entrepreneurship Awards which celebrate the work of key individuals and organisations in the East Midlands.

In the same week, Yü Energy was a Silver Winner at the UK Business Awards in the category of ‘SME – Incorporated for less than 10 years’.  This followed an outstanding entry and presentation to judges at Wembley Stadium last Wednesday 22 November.

Founded by Derby-born entrepreneur Bobby Kalar in 2014, Yü Energy started life in Chesterfield with less than 10 employees before relocating to Nottingham. Since then the business has become one of the UK’s fastest growing business energy suppliers, supplying thousands of businesses across the UK. It now employs a team of over 100, with revenues forecast to exceed £40m for 2017.

Yü Energy was created with a mission of offering businesses an alternative to the Big Six Energy firms. It provides a combination of excellent service and competitive fixed energy prices, helping companies to take away the strain of their energy bills so that they can focus on running their business.  During this period of rapid growth, Yü Energy has remained true to this principle, successfully maintaining high standards of customer service.

Created to recognise and celebrate the delivery of exceptional customer service, the UK Business Awards is a platform for sharing best practice and promoting continuous improvement, learning, and personal development.

Other finalists and winners of the UK Business Awards include Lloyds Banking Group, Marston’s Beer Company and Tech Mahindra.

Congratulating the winners, Lindsay Hunter, Event Manager for Awards International, said: “We are truly inspired by all the talent showcased at the UK Business Awards.

“We have seen many outstanding examples of businesses which are breaking the mold and changing their industry landscapes. This amazing event gave us the opportunity to acknowledge those companies and celebrate with both the finalists and the winners.”

The Nachural Entrepreneurship Awards reward outstanding entrepreneurial individuals and organisations in the East Midlands.

Reflecting on the Nachural Business of the Year Award, Yü Energy CEO, Bobby Kalar said “I’m really proud and humbled to have won ‘Business of the Year’. A huge thank you to all of my team for their continued effort, commitment and unwavering belief that together we can achieve great success. This award goes some way to proving that point.”

Following the double award win, Yü Energy will be hoping for more success in December at the Utility Week Awards and The Energy Awards. Here it will be competing against companies such as Severn Trent, EDF Energy and Gazprom Energy for industry-recognised awards.
