Business community raises £1,300 at Lincoln Boating Festival

The Burton Waters Boating Festival returned for a fifth year on Saturday 9th June raising more than £1,300 for charity with the support of local businesses.

The event, which was the biggest to date, raised funds for Prostate Cancer UK and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution; a charity which saves lives at sea through lifeboat search and rescue.

More than 500 families and boating enthusiasts from across the country enjoyed live music, photo booths, a charity raffle, giant garden games, stalls and viewed more than 30 boats, amongst other activities at the event.

A range of local businesses set up stalls on the day and supplied prizes for the raffle, with all money raised going to important causes.

Diane Beck, events organiser at Burton Waters Boat Sales, said: “This year’s Boating Festival had a fantastic turnout and atmosphere. We had more businesses than ever in attendance, all of which helped us to smash our initial target of raising £1,000 for two causes which are close to our hearts.

“I’d like to thank all of the businesses who spared the time to get involved and those who attended for helping make it our best event yet, we look forward to hosting the Boating Festival again next year.”

Luxury retirement developer Arbor Living, whose 20-acre Lakeshore development in Lincoln will feature 64 park homes when complete, is one of the businesses that attended the prestigious Boating Festival with a stall and generously donated a luxury Fortnum & Mason hamper to the charity raffle.

Managing Director at Arbor Living, Graham Richardson, said: “We were so pleased by the turnout at the Boating Festival this year and to have been involved in raising money for these fantastic charities.

“It was a lovely event that was enjoyed by all and our lakeshore development, which is a stone’s throw from where the festival was held, received a very warm and positive response from the local community. We’re extremely grateful to our neighbours for hosting this event at their beautiful, relaxing and popular complex, which many of our residents enjoy on a daily basis.

“We’re now looking ahead to another busy year at our Lakeshore development and are already excited by the prospect of next year’s Boating Festival.”

Other businesses that attended on the day included Timeless Men’s Accessories, Activities Away, Stella & Dot Jewellery, Temple Spa Products, Jorge Artisan Foods and more.
