Civil and structural engineer BSP Consulting has been presented with an award in recognition of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The East Midlands-based company has received a gold CSR accreditation – the highest level awarded by CSR Accreditation, which delivers the standard for social responsibility.
It reflects BSP’s commitment to social and environmental concerns within its business operations and in interactions with its stakeholders, including staff, clients and associates.
Business development director at BSP Consulting, Jef Todd, said: “The whole team at BSP Consulting is pleased and proud to have achieved CSR Accreditation. It’s the absolute icing on the cake to have received a gold standard award – the highest level available.
“The company takes great pride in our CSR commitments which are embedded in our culture, and it’s great to have those achievements recognised officially.”
BSP Consulting has its headquarters in Nottingham, with offices in Derby, Leicester and Sheffield. It has calculated that the value of its CSR in 2019 alone was £1.9m.
Its CSR commitments include providing energy efficient building design, supporting charities, offering professional pro-bono advice to good causes and charitable organisations, and reducing the firm’s carbon footprint through its operations, whether office, design or site-based. BSP is an equal opportunities employer and provides work experience, apprenticeships and training for young people. In addition, the company is a ‘good neighbour’ – actively interacting with community groups and supporting educational initiatives – and nurtures local business relationships through sourcing local labour, equipment and materials where possible.
“Achieving a CSR Accreditation is a visible testimony of excellence in corporate social responsibility, showing that BSP Consulting has integrated CSR initiatives throughout its business,” said Richard Collins, MD of CSR Accreditation. “A Gold CSR Accreditation is a significant achievement and I’d like to congratulate the whole team.
“Social responsibility is becoming an essential ingredient in business recovery and transition to the new normal. The future of business will be measured in social values as well as financial value. Businesses investing in their social responsibility now will deliver a sustainable and profitable future. It is no secret that consumers and stakeholders expect increased social value from the businesses they are engaged with.”
