Women from Smith Partnership, Mr & Dee, Mercia Image Print, Darley Dance Productions and the University of Derby have been celebrated at the East Midlands Women’s Awards.
The Awards recognises and celebrates women from all sectors, backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities and age, and acknowledges the impact of women in society – from grass-roots levels to the top of the academic or corporate world.
Claire Twells, Partner at law firm Smith Partnership was recognised in two categories as Outstanding Senior Female Executive for 2019 and East Midlands Inspirational Female Leader 2019.
Outstanding Woman of Community Impact – Charity & Voluntary Award 2019 was won by Maria Hanson MBE of Me & Dee; and Amanda Strong, owner of Mercia Image Print won the Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2019.
Abbi Burns, owner of Darley Dance Productions and a Marketing Derby Rising Star was a finalist in the Outstanding Woman in Arts, Media & Music category, and Bev Crighton, Employer Engagement Lead at the University of Derby was shortlisted for the Outstanding Women In Education Award 2019.
Sandra Pollock, Founder of the EMWA, said: “This year’s awards marks our third year and we are blown away with the award nominations we received which proudly represent a wide spectrum of sectors, backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities and ages, and I believe they deserve to be recognised. In fact, we’ve seen a growth of over 70% in nominations, which is thrilling.”
