A £480 car, four countries, three days and thousands of miles…

Managing Director Phil Harvey and CEO Andy Flinn

RDS Global’s fundraising and charity work will take on a distinctly continental feel next month as the firm’s own Phil Harvey and Andy Flinn – Managing Director and CEO respectively – take on the daunting and renowned Pavestone Rally challenge.

Setting off from Reims in Northern France, the pair will be tasked with driving through Europe before arriving in beautiful Lake Como in Italy’s Lombardy region – just three days later.

En route, the two intrepid explorers will pass through France and on to Stuttgart in Germany, Salzburg in Austria and Venice in Italy before finishing the journey at Lake Como.

There will also be challenges along the way and that Phil and Andy must complete the trip in fancy dress attire.

On top of all that, making the challenge that little bit more daunting is that the whole trip has to be completed in a roadworthy, legal car purchased for under £500.

In fact, the car Phil and Andy will be travelling in was purchased for just £480 and is a Vauxhall Signum with over 110,000 miles on the clock. It is this vehicle that the pair will have to rely on in order to complete the challenge.

Starting on 5th September before concluding three days later on 8th September, the mission is one Phil and Andy are certainly passionate about – given RDS Global’s proud roots in the automotive industry and the three fantastic charities chosen for all donations to go to; Teenage Cancer Trust, Variety Children and The Rainy Day Trust.

In the past three years, the Pavestone Rally – which has gained well-known and celebrity supporters far and wide from Olympics legend Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, former politician John Prescott to TV personality Nick Knowles to name just three – has raised over £325,000 for good causes.

What can you do to get involved? The business is aiming high and have set the ambitious target of raising £2,000 to support the Pavestone Rally’s great causes.

Every penny counts and makes a difference to peoples’ lives, so if you want to support Phil and Andy and do your bit for some amazing charities, you can donate – no matter how small – here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RDSPavestoneRally.
