Wheatcroft triumphs at the EMBL Fastest 40 Awards

Purpose Media MD Matt Wheatcroft swept to victory at the East Midlands Business Link Fastest 40 Awards last night, scooping both the Fastest Owner-Manager and Overall Winner accolades at the glittering ceremony. The founder of the South Normanton-based digital agency said he was “thrilled” to receive the awards presented by category sponsors Qdos Consulting and NTU Employability.

Over 100 people attended the fourth iteration of the popular awards at Genting Casino Riverlights Derby.

Guests were treated to an engaging talk by Ann Bhatti, manager of the Connect Derby managed workplace scheme, who discussed her work and the important contribution entrepreneurs make to the regional economy, before the award presentations began.

Wheatcroft received his Fastest Owner-Manager award from Kelvin Locke, head of sales at Thurmaston-based Qdos Consulting, before Michelin-trained chef Craig Poynter of Sherwood’s The Bakehouse stepped up to accept the newly created Fastest Restaurant and Bar award from Jonathan Smith, managing partner at licensing law specialists Poppleston Allen.

Ginny Hallam, founder and director of Nottingham-based employment law firm Halborns received the East Midlands Business Link Fastest in Professional Services award, while Tom Drew, head of sports development at Lincoln-based architects LK2 scooped the Fastest in Property award – another new category introduced this year – from Cartwright Communications’ Sarah Howells.

Concluding the presentations, Sam Stoffel, founder of matched betting firm Profit Accumulator, was presented with the hotly contested Fastest in Tech & Creative award by High Growth CEO Stuart Ross, before Wheatcroft picked up the Overall Winner prize from Amy Underwood of NTU Employability.
