New Business Tourism Service for Leicester and Leicestershire ready for take off

A new initiative to support the recovery and growth of the county’s business tourism market has been launched.

Meet Leicester is a public, private sector partnership made up of 40 venues based in and around Leicester and Leicestershire. Its aim is to increase business tourism in the area by promoting the portfolio of venues available to the conference and meetings sector in this centrally located and easily accessible destination. All 40 venues can be found on the new informative and easy to use website www.meetleicester.co.uk.

Funded by Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council and the Leicester & Leicestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), Meet Leicester is led by an experienced Business Tourism Manager Samantha Hall and   Assistant Pasquale Buonanno. Meet Leicester offers a free and impartial venue finding service to conference organisers for any size of meeting from 10 to 1000 delegates.

Samantha commented “I am so proud to be promoting such an exciting destination and helping to support the recovery of such a diverse range of quality venues.”

Leicestershire is situated in an ideal location home to East Midlands Airport and just 30 miles to Birmingham International Airport. With a mainline station and just 66 minutes from London St Pancras, and easy access from the M1, it really is the perfect location for delegates anywhere in the country. A vibrant city centre is surrounded by calming lush countryside, canals and rivers; it really is a county of contrasts.

Delegates are invited to uncover the story of King Richard III who was found in a car park in the city centre and have an out of this world experience at the unique National Space Centre, the UK’s only venue dedicated to the exploration of space, which has the UK’s largest Planetarium. Meet at the beautiful Nevill Holt Estate with its 400 seat theatre; or for some teambuilding try tank driving at Armourgeddon.

Leicestershire has a rich heritage of sporting excellence, most notably Leicester City Football club. The Imago Venues portfolio includes the Elite Athlete Centre and hotel as well as bespoke year-round hotel and conference venues. Meet Leicester also showcases Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Leicester Racecourse and the Morningside Arena, home to the Leicester Riders basketball team.
