Ilkeston-headquartered ecology consultant appointed on Severn Trent Water & Hafren Dyfrdwy framework

Ecology consultants, RammSanderson has been appointed onto a framework of suppliers to Severn Trent Water (STW) and Hafren Dyfrdwy (HD). The company has also had its contract with Western Power Distribution extended.

The STW & HD appointment means that the company is approved to supply ecological and arboricultural services on STW & HD projects for up to the next three years as part of the AMP 7 programme.

STW has announced that it will invest more than £6bn between 2020 and 2025 on new and existing assets like pipes, treatment works and reservoirs. It currently provides over eight million people across the Midlands, from the outskirts of Sheffield, down to Bristol, and into north and mid-Wales region with approximately 2 billion litres of fresh, clean drinking water every day.

These plans also include ambitions to improve biodiversity throughout the region, including planting more than 1.3 million trees, establishing new wildflower meadows and restoring moorland, and restoring bog and peatland, all of which will help fight climate change, contribute to biodiversity net gain and protect water supplies.

Commenting on the appointment, Director Anthony Mellor, who leads the company’s Stafford office said: “In light of the recent coronavirus outbreak and its effect on the economy, we are really delighted with this news. As our work takes place outdoors we can comply with social distancing rules; so whilst we can still go on site to carry out surveys for our clients on essential construction projects, this news and the prospect of regular assignments in the future is the kind of stability we need. It will help speed recovery when lock down measures can be lifted.”

He added: “This appointment comes following increased success providing services to the utilities sector. After 12 months supporting Western Power Distribution, our contract with them has also been extended for a further 12 months to assist in delivering their programme of cable diversion works.”

RammSanderson head offices are in Ilkeston Derbyshire and it has satellite offices in Stafford, Sheffield and London. The company was founded in 2014 by Oliver Ramm and Nick Sanderson.

Help us maintain our standards of journalism

Readers across the region enjoy our news site but keeping our news up to date and authoritative, without charging readers to view the site is a challenge. Especially now with the Corona Virus measures affecting us all, as many clients have been severely affected and are naturally reducing their spend on advertisements. Given this lack of revenue stream we are calling on the generosity of our readers to help us fill that void and enable our journalists to continue delivering the news that you enjoy.

Unlike many other news sites, we don't have annoying pop ups or charge scandalous prices for events. We also produce printed magazines for each title and we make these freely available to read on line too, for your enjoyment. Often, people have asked why we don't make a charge for viewers to read these magazines and news stories but we feel that would adversely affect our readership/advertisers response rate. But with advertising revenues now severely affected we need your help. So, if you can support our news sites/magazines with either a small donation of even £1, or a subscription to our magazine, which costs from just £33.60 per year, (inc p&P and mailed direct to your door) your generosity will help us weather the current storm and continue in our quest to deliver quality journalism.

We value your readership and your support, as this enables us to continue to provide our regular daily news updates. We've been established over 30 years, during which we've lost count of the numerous recessions and financial meltdowns, and we intend to weather the storms caused by Covid-19. So, every reader contribution, however big or small, is invaluable in helping us to get through this. Please click here to help support your favourite news site/magazine.
