Rishi Sunak, Chancellor, has today announced an extension to the Government’s job retention scheme, which has now been extended for another four months up until the end of October. In addition, the Government has promised no changes to the scheme until the end of July.
From August to October, the scheme will continue but with some changes to allow for flexibility to better enable a gradual transition back to working life, and employers currently using the scheme will be able to bring furloughed employees back part-time.
Further details have been promised by the end of May. In quote, Rishi Sunak says; “Workers will, through the combined efforts of government and employers, continue to receive the same level of support as they do now, at 80% of their salary, up to £2,500.”
