East Midlands Chamber has been approached by official regional governments in China to identify suppliers and manufacturers of surgical and medical equipment crucial to combating the spread of the coronavirus.

The coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China, and has since spread across the country and large parts of the world.

With the East Midlands having a strong reputation for manufacturing, the Chamber is seeking any business active in this area to get in touch if they are in a position to share masks, caps, goggles, screens, respirators, suits, gowns, gloves, thermometers and detection kits.

Laura Howard, Head of International Trade at the Chamber, said: “Lots of crucial work on an international scale has gone into limiting the spread of this contagious virus since the outbreak last month.

“However, more can always be done and this is a great opportunity for the fantastic businesses operating in this area across the East Midlands to play their part in combating this particularly potent virus.”
