It’s that time of year, when Business Link Magazine invites readers to offer up their forecasts for the year ahead. It has become something of a tradition, given that we’ve been doing this for almost 35 years.
And, while none of us possess a crystal ball, it is uncanny how accurate some of these forecasts have been over the years.
Here we catch up with Ian Hodgkinson, Principle CEO at Hodgkinson Builders:
Brexit is certainly the buzzword on the lips of many business owners at present. I do believe that Brexit is having an effect on the property market, and we have seen a slowdown in the market more generally.
Confidence is slipping amongst housebuilders, the banks and with those looking to buy. In my opinion, we need a deal. Any deal is a deal, but a ‘no deal’ situation will cause even more uncertainty and effect the market further.
Despite this, Brexit will not be holding us back as a business! We already have 120 new houses in the pipeline to be built next year in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Stafford, and the future is looking extremely bright indeed for us as a local construction business.
