Browne Jacobson release results showing 9.2% rise in turnover

Law firm Browne Jacobson’s has released its latest financial results showing a 9.2 per cent rise in work done to £73m for the year ending 30 April 2018, up from £66.8m in 2016/17.

Over the last five years the firm has delivered a growth of 46 per cent with revenues increasing by £23m.

Iain Blatherwick, Managing Partner at Browne Jacobson, said: “When you consider the challenges faced by the UK economy, we are pleased with the strong growth we have delivered in what clearly remains a tough trading environment for many of our clients and competitors.

“In line with our growth strategy we have continued to invest in key areas of the business whilst ensuring we deliver exceptional client service. A prime example is our latest move to new offices at No1 Spinningfields in Manchester.

“Whilst we expect the coming year to remain highly competitive, we will continue to invest in people and our healthy work pipeline across our key sectors gives us the confidence that we can continue with this positive growth trajectory.”

The firm’s latest financial performance has been driven by revenue growth across a number of key clients and sectors, alongside continued investment in service delivery, in particular a strategic recruitment drive in key areas and locations saw eight partners join the firm in the last 12 months, taking the total number to 132 with a total legal headcount of over 530.

Key client activity saw the firm being re-appointed to NHS Resolution, Homes England’s national legal services framework and the EM Lawshare framework, as well as adding new clients Addo Food Group, Metro Bank, Tech Data, Top Cashback, Centrica, Shawbrook Bank and HSBC to its roster, amongst others.

The year also saw the firm announce new head and deputy head of office roles for each of its five locations, introduce a new role of legal director which to date has seen 11 associates promoted to the position, alongside seven partner and 19 associate promotions and 19 trainees joining the firm in 2017/18.

Browne Jacobson was also awarded a ‘Gold’ star rating for delivering exceptional client service by Investor in People. Other accolades included being rated as one of the best 300 graduate employers in the country by The Guardian, awarded ‘Commercial Team of the Year’ at the Solicitors Journal Awards 2017 and ‘Legal Advisors of the Year’ at the Education Investor Awards for the second year in a row.
