Walkers has confirmed an outbreak of COVID-19 at its Leicester factory.
28 positive cases have been reported at the crisp factory, with the company noting that it has seen a steady increase in the number of cases in June and that a track and trace procedure indicates the transmission of the virus was not in the Beaumont Leys factory, where it employs 1,400.
The firm believes the increase in cases is due to the roll out and uptake of testing.
The company said that affected staff are self isolating on full pay.
The news follows lockdown being extended in Leicester after a rise in cases, with 944 reported in the last two weeks.
