Bombardier Transportation UK has launched a major recruitment drive to find 300 assembly workers to help them deliver a record number of trains.
It is looking to recruit electrical and mechanical assemblers to work at the Litchurch Lane plant, and has organised an interview day, which is due to take place this weekend, to carry out assessments for those who are interested in the available positions.
In recent years, Bombardier has landed a number of major contracts for its Aventra train – designed, developed and now built in Derby.
They include orders from London Overground, Greater Anglia, South Western and West Midlands. Now, many of these contracts are starting to come on-stream – and Bombardier now needs extra workers to build them.
In other news Bombardier has sold its UK rolling stock electrical component and system production and installation activities in a deal worth about £10.9m.
This transaction is another step in Bombardier’s Transformation Programme and the acquisition extends existing global relationship between Bombardier and Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd.
