Shepshed-based Foster Industrial, a supplier of premium welding equipment, has seen a great start to 2016, with a place in the finals of the prestigious Welding World Awards – the first ever awards to recognise excellence in the welding sector.

Launched by The Association of Welding Distribution, which supports and promotes the high professional standards of its members, the awards are independent and impartial, showcasing the best in the business.

Following a rigorous entry process, which involved a public vote before presenting to a judging panel of industry experts, the family-run firm will be vying for first place in three categories at the awards ceremony – “Best Gas Agent”, “Best E-Commerce Website Organisation” and “Best Welding Distributor”.

In order to get this far, Foster Industrial had to demonstrate awareness of the latest technology and legislation within the industry, good product knowledge and customer service.

Joint managing director at Foster Industrial, Richard Foster, said: “We’ve invested heavily in the business recently and it’s great to have all that effort recognised in this way. Because the awards are a two-stage process, with a customer vote followed by industry judging, any success speaks volumes.”

Adrian Hawkins, managing director at Welding World, added: “Foster Industrial thoroughly impressed the judging panel with their enthusiasm and passion for the industry.  We found their presentation interesting and extremely informative and congratulate them on becoming finalists in what has been a heavily contested awards process.”

The Welding World Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 13th April 2016 at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham during MACH 2016, a showpiece for the Manufacturing and Engineering industries.

Foster Industrial is the UK’s longest established distributor of welding and cutting equipment and supplies, having been trading since 1886. The family run business employs a team of 20 based on Gelders Hall Road in Shepshed, providing welding and cutting products and technical support to the metal fabrication industry and manufacturers across the East Midlands and beyond.
