Digital agency launches small business fundraising site in 24 hours

Digital agency Frogspark has designed, built and launched a micro fundraising platform in 24 hours following an idea that was generated nearly 2 years ago.

Frogspark has today launched Don8mini in a plea to help small, independent businesses – even in a small way.

Whilst the business community navigates through this current pandemic – it’s still important we look after who we can. The idea is to provide a simple way to donate the equivalent of a small, everyday item to a local or independent business that would ordinarily get that revenue. For example if you would ordinarily without thinking spend £2.00 a few times per week on a Latte – would it be so much of a strain to donate that to a business in need right now?

Rob Twells, Managing Director at Frogspark said: “I had the idea a couple of years back. I know that I buy coffees like they’re going out of fashion, pints at the pub and food here and there without thinking.

“It’s the businesses that produce or sell these types of items that are going to feel the strain more than anybody right now. What if a few of us just donated the price of one coffee or one pint to one of these businesses – that would make an impact. If we can fundraise just a little, for a few businesses we love in the area, that would at least bring a smile to somebodies face.”

Right now, Frogspark is just picking one business to highlight on rotation based on who they like, want to support or use regularly. Over time there are plans to introduce polls to pick the next business and choose based on the outcomes of that. Frogspark will be handing funds raised directly over to these businesses.

Frogspark is also trying to highlight small, local and independent businesses on their social media accounts at @don8mini on Twitter and Instagram) to help raise more awareness.

Plans over the next week or so are to introduce a directory of businesses who might benefit from more awareness. More and more small and independent business, specifically in food/drink, retail and hospitality are introducing wider product ranges to their online shops, for people to enjoy their product at home. The directory will be to highlight these businesses and where customers should go to take advantage of these new initiatives that are being put in place.

To help, just a little bit – please head to don8mini.co.uk – the first small business chosen is Bear.
