Time Out: Mark Boardman, Managing Director at BEM Services

The weekend has rolled round again and that means another ‘Time Out’. This week’s answers come from Mark Boardman, Managing Director at BEM Services, who it turns out enjoys scuba diving!

What is the first thing you do to get the weekend started?

My personal rule is to never work on a Friday night so It depends on what is planned. If I’m planning on doing Parkrun or something else physical then it’ll be Gogglebox or Have I Got News For You on the TV, if not then it’ll probably be a beer with friends in the pub.

What is your hobby?

Scuba diving is currently my favourite hobby and I’m training for an open water diving qualification. I’m also an Army Reservist so some weekends I’ll be off shooting or ‘playing soldiers’. If I’m not diving, climbing, shooting or running then there’s always some DIY that needs doing.

What is your favourite movie?

I love the Terminator series of films but generally I like my comedies, the Johnny English films are particular favourites.

If you hadn’t been successful at what you do, what would you be doing instead as a career?

That’s a tough one. An assessment when I was at school said I should be a Television Aerial Erector, I’m not sure there’s much call for them these days though!

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

To be able to control time. There’s so much that I’d like to fit into everyday I’d have to make the days longer and the nights shorter. I’d also travel through time in a Dr Who manner, meeting people from different era’s and places.

What is your favourite genre of music?

I like a variety of music. Rock, dance, pop, as long as it’s uplifting and positive then I’ll listen to it. ‘Slow songs’ are not my thing.

If you could travel to any moment in time where would you go?

I’d travel forward in time to see what my great, great, great, great grandchildren are doing. I’m sure they’d be shocked to see me.
