In the lead up to International Women’s Day, Northampton Borough Council’s Women’s Forum and BBC Radio Northampton are joining together to celebrate the achievements of local women through the 2017 Inspirational Woman Award.
The 2017 award is an opportunity to recognise women who have made a difference in their community, work place or local school by providing support or being a great role model to others.
The nomination period opens today and the partnership is encouraging people to start thinking about who they could nominate – whether it is a neighbour or a family friend that has helped someone in their community to achieve a milestone, or someone who organises a local group or activity.
This year’s Inspirational Woman Award winner will be announced during an International Women’s Day event at the Guildhall on 4th March.
Councillor Anna King, the Council’s cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “There are so many inspirational women in Northampton who do some great work helping individuals and communities local to them and the Inspirational Woman Award is an ideal way of thanking them for their acts of kindness.
“We are encouraging residents to nominate the stars in their community and to join us at the popular International Women’s Day event to find out who will win the award and to network with like-minded women”.
The Inspirational Woman Award nomination form is available here. The closing date for nominations is Friday 27th January.
