Nottingham law firm Rothera Dowson has strengthened its road transport law department with the arrival of a new specialist.
Solicitor Laura Newton will bring a wealth of expertise in dealing with road transport and traffic law to the team. Newton joins having spent several years with HM Courts Services, first as a trainee solicitor and later as a senior legal advisor to Magistrates. Prior to that Newton also worked with UK Border Agency, now Border Force.
She will bolster the department’s strong track record with stowaway and carriers liability cases. She also has experience in matters relating to operator licensing and driver infringements, having made numerous successful representations to the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.
Newton, who is based at Rothera Dowson’s Lace Market office in the heart of Nottingham, said: “I’m really pleased to be moving to Rothera Dowson, a law firm with a solid reputation and exciting growth. Transport law itself is an area that is still constantly developing with the arrival of new technologies and challenges so it’s a great time for me.”
Anton Balkitis, the partner who heads up Rothera Dowson’s road transport team, added: “Laura brings invaluable knowledge and skills to our already formidable transport team and we’re thrilled to have her on board. Her past experience working in the Magistrates Court and for the Home Office will contribute greatly to our work. Particularly when acting for national and international operators and their drivers in dealing with stowaway and Border Force cases.”
Rothera Dowson has been providing quality legal advice for nearly 200 years, with roots going back to the 1820s.
