Plans for a 115-home development on land south of Markfield Lane in Leicestershire are under review by Charnwood Borough Council’s planning committee. The proposal, submitted by Davidsons Developments Ltd, seeks outline approval for residential construction on the edge of Markfield.
The initial plan for 150 homes was reduced to 115 during the consultation process. Planning officers have advised the committee to approve the revised application. Around 40% of the proposed dwellings (equating to 46 units) would be designated as affordable housing. The mix includes one-bedroom flats through to four-bedroom family homes.
The development is expected to contribute £877,628 towards local education as part of a Section 106 agreement, alongside other infrastructure commitments. Council reports describe the location as sustainable and the project as contributing to housing demand in the area.
If approved, the scheme would represent one of the larger residential additions to the Markfield area in recent years, aligning with local objectives to increase affordable housing supply and support regional growth.
