Major names join new leisure space at intu Derby

Two major names have joined the new 42,000 sq ft leisure space at intu Derby.

Situated on the third level of the centre, the leisure area – set to open in early 2017 – will be home to Hollywood Bowl and Paradise Island Adventure Golf. Both operators have signed 25 year leases.

Martin Breeden, development director at intu, said: “This is a really ingenious project where we’re converting a deck of the multi storey car park into further leisure anchors. We’ve already got Showcase Cinema de Lux, one of the best cinemas in the country, and this will provide further knock on trade to our retail and catering where Mac, Smiggle, Office, Joe’s Kitchen, Byron Burger, Chimichanga, Zizzi, Yo! Sushi and Barburrito have all arrived over the last 12 months”.

Alan Pearson, director at FHP, who act as intu’s leasing agents, said: “I am delighted to have secured both Hollywood Bowl and Paradise Island Golf for intu Derby. We have actively sought to improve the leisure offering in the Intu centre’s purchase. The pre-letting of the 42,000 sq ft leisure extension demonstrates the demand for the scheme, further enhancing intu Derby’s reputation as the retail and leisure destination for Derbyshire”.

Steve Burns, CEO of The Original Bowling Company, said: “We are very excited to be bringing a new, state of the art entertainment venue to intu Derby. The new Hollywood Bowl will provide high quality, fun-filled leisure experiences to customers of all ages in our bowling, diner, bar and amusement areas”.

Joshua Dantzic, director at Paradise Island Adventure Golf, added: “Adventure golf is fast becoming one of the most popular attractions on the UK leisure scene and this is our third location in an intu development.  intu offers some of the most exciting leisure opportunities in the UK and we hope to continue to build our relationship further in other intu destinations”.

FHP and Central Retail are joint agents for intu Derby.

Wareing & Co represented Paradise Adventure Golf while Montague Evans acted on behalf of Hollywood Bowl.

Help us maintain our standards of journalism

Readers across the region enjoy our news site but keeping our news up to date and authoritative, without charging readers to view the site is a challenge. Especially now with the Corona Virus measures affecting us all, as many clients have been severely affected and are naturally reducing their spend on advertisements. Given this lack of revenue stream we are calling on the generosity of our readers to help us fill that void and enable our journalists to continue delivering the news that you enjoy.

Unlike many other news sites, we don't have annoying pop ups or charge scandalous prices for events. We also produce printed magazines for each title and we make these freely available to read on line too, for your enjoyment. Often, people have asked why we don't make a charge for viewers to read these magazines and news stories but we feel that would adversely affect our readership/advertisers response rate. But with advertising revenues now severely affected we need your help. So, if you can support our news sites/magazines with either a small donation of even £1, or a subscription to our magazine, which costs from just £33.60 per year, (inc p&P and mailed direct to your door) your generosity will help us weather the current storm and continue in our quest to deliver quality journalism.

We value your readership and your support, as this enables us to continue to provide our regular daily news updates. We've been established over 30 years, during which we've lost count of the numerous recessions and financial meltdowns, and we intend to weather the storms caused by Covid-19. So, every reader contribution, however big or small, is invaluable in helping us to get through this. Please click here to help support your favourite news site/magazine.
